![]() In case it helps, I have listed their possible fixes.none of which work for me. If I was as bad in my job I would have been fired within a week! I am still having problems more than six months later and their support team have no idea how to fix it. Yes I agree. It's a shame the product is so good and yet they are so bad with their customers. Right-click on that file and run it as Administrator Download TomTom HOME from TomTom, portable GPS car navigation systems and save it on your desktop ![]() Their first suggestion for a fix didn't work for me but might work for some of you out there, so if you want to give it a try, this is their answer.Ĭ:\Users\USER_NAME\AppData\Roaming\TomTom My brother has the same problem on his desktop system and TomTom basically told him the same as me."we can find nothing wrong. My laptop has the same setup as my desktop system and TomTom Home works fine on the Laptop but refuses to work on the desktop. I get exactly the same error (Component returned failure code: 0x80004005) but my Documents folder is pointing to the right place on the C drive and Home will not work all the time.Įveryone seems to have the same problem but with a different solution, and some like me with no solution at all. I wish you luck if you try to persevere with TomTom, but don't hold your breath. I now use my laptop to update my Satnav which runs the same Vista setup but without the errors on TomTom Home. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, cleaned the registry, and everything else known to mankind.Nothing works! They never give a direct answer except to imply that we (the customer) are the only one suffering this problem and give the impression they would like us to please go away. I asked TomTom about the point in having the error code and asking us to send it to them, if they then don't know what it means! and I have now given up with their so called "experts" as they do not read my emails and only give stock answers that have nothing to do with the question. TomTom absolutely refuse to admit there is a problem. I can get it to work after about 10 - 20 attempts, which means I can upgrade my maps etc (eventually!) Just so you know you are not alone! I have the same problem as you with TomTom Home. Now I see another person with the same error and in contact with the TomTom helpdesk.Īre more people with the same TomTom Home error in Vista? ![]() ![]() It is remarkable that the TomTom helpdesk tells me that I am the only person who reports this problem. I'am using a brandnew machine with the most updated drivers and software. I have tried everything: cleaning folders and register from old versions of TomTom Home, installing and/or start-up the program without firewall and virusscanner, using administrator rights, clossing all programs in the background etc. My previous personel Computer (XP-SP3 and the same other software) has no problems to start TomTom Home. The last TomTom helpdesk message (December 2008) says the experts of TomTom gave in. This is in 1 percent of all the attempts to start up the program and unpredictable. It is remarkable, but sometimes the program starts normally without the error. The 1st and 2nd echelons of TomTom helpdesk offered me a lot of possible solutions, but none was a real solution. Since October 2008 (the first time I installed TomTom Home) I have exactly the same problem in spite of the version of the program. ![]()
